IMPHAL, October 26: Two persons travelling in a van were injured, when their vehicle collided with an Oil Tanker this morning at Khonghampat Mayai Leikai under Sekmai Police station Imphal West District.
According to sources, the tanker was coming towards Imphal from Senapati side, while the van was going towards Senapati from the Imphal side.
The left side of the back of the van was extensively damaged due to the collision indicating that the tanker must have hit the van on its left back.
The van after the collision fell into a road side pond on the eastern side of highway.
The injured have been identified as one Paonam Leirentombi, 58, wife of Damu Singh of Wangjing Wangkhei, however, the driver could not be identified till the filing of this report.
Dazed by the collision and subsequent falling into the pond, the van driver took several minutes before he could come out of the van and pond’s bank.
