IMPHAL, November 7: In a shocking incident a 91-year-old man was stabbed to death by his own nephew over a long family dispute, this morning around 10:30 at Chajing Chingkhong Leikai under Singjamei Police Station Imphal West.
The deceased have been identified as Ningthoujam Birachandra, son of late Sajao of Chajing while the accused is identified as Ningthoujam Benao alias James, 35 son of late Iboton.
Benao is personnel of India Reserved Battalion (IRB) at present posted at Ukhrul district.
Soon after committing the crime the accused along with his family reportedly abandoned the locality. Meanwhile, an angry mob stormed the house of the accused and dismantled the properties.
According to information culled out from the scene, the relation between the two families (accused and deceased) has been under stress.
Five years back the accused elder brother (Babu) reportedly killed his uncle’s son, identified as N Dam, at the same time blinding his father’s right eye on the charge of practising black magic. He was released few months back after serving his sentence.
The accused family are of the claim that the black magic is pulling apart their family, said that sources.
Since the incident the two families have been reeling under constant grudge against each other.
While narrating on the incident the local revealed that deceased uncle was having Lunch while the incident took place.
It has been informed the family will be ousted from the locality permanently said the locals.
