IMPHAL, Nov 2 (NNN): The All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) said it has been saddened and shocked to learn about the series of bomb blasts at public places where innocent people are killed and injured.
“This is an extremely inhuman and gross violation of human rights, as draconian as AFSPA, 1958. The innocent public are made stoic under bitter emotions with mental disorientation which have accounted to so many psychiatric patients in Manipur. If ever the cause of sister Irom Sharmila`s philosophy on against innocent killings is understood, then it is ought to refrain from such public massacres. So, it is pleaded to whoever is responsible of the blast to have mercy on innocent public,” AMTU general secretary Romeo Bungdon said. It then sarcastically asked, “Should we assume that jihad has arrived in Manipur too?” AMTU then appealed to the state authority to foil such attacks on innocent public and conveyed its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families.
