Four militants arrested by police

IMPHAL, November 12: The state police have arrested four militants during separate counter insurgency operations in the state yesterday.

According to a press statement of the Imphal West district police, on November 11 at 4.00 pm, and 4.30 pm, district police Commandos arrested four active members of PREPAK (PRO) from near Kanglapark and BT Park area respectively.

The statement further identified the four arrested militant cadres as Kangabam Inaoba Singh, 56, son of (L) K Rajmani Singh of Langol Housing Complex T-3/H-19 who was arrested from near Kangla park; and Khumbongmayum Naobi alias Pratap Meitei, 33, son of (L) Kh Tompapu of Nongada Thongkhong, Khaidem Sanjoy, 35, son of Kh Yaiskul Singh of Lilong Nungei and Toijam Sonamani Meitei, 33, son of T Kala of Nongada Thongkhong all three arrested from BT park area.

Meanwhile, the Thoubal district SP in a separate press release has also said that on November 11, a combined team of cdo Thoubal and 15 AR conducted search operation at Heirok Pt-lll, Ngarongthen Leikai and arrested 1 (one) cadre of KYKL namely Moirngthem Premananda Meitei alias Digbijoy, 25, son of M Kumar Meitei of Heirok Pt-III, Ngarongthen Leikal about 11.15 p.m, and recovered one 7.65mm pistol loaded with three live rounds in the magazine.

On questioning, the individual revealed that he joined the KYKL organization in the year 2003 and received training at Chalong Training Camp, Chandel district under Army no 247 of 16 Batch. Now, he works under the command of s/s 2nd lt Khelemba of KYKL , it said.
