INHAWEM distributes bravery awards, pension cards

IMPHAL, November 8: The International Handicapped Welfare Mission, Manipur (INHAWEM) today distributed bravery incentive awards and pension cards to differently-abled persons in connection with its 18th foundation day at a function hosted at INHAWEM complex, Moidangpok.

Speaking at the function MLA RK Anand opined that differently-abled persons employ different methods to communicate with each other and performed many activities which the normal could not.

He further said that common perception towards differently-abled persons have undergone a lot of changes in the present era, which is the result of various organizations and government working for their up-liftmen and removing their stigmatization and discrimination from the society.

The state and Central governments should look more inquisitively and generously for their welfare and extension of the facilities being provided under various schemes/programs.

He appealed to MP of Lok Sabha, Dr T Meinya to urge the centre to provide more facilities and solve the issues being faced by the differently-abled persons in the state.

Lauding INHAWEM, he said other NGOs in the state should work for the development of differently-abled persons and added that the government and the concerned departments should recognize the work done by the NGOs.

He continued that organizing such function is quite encouraging and important too for bringing awareness to the differently-abled persons.

UCM, president, Y Nabachandra said that the accomplishment by the differently-abled persons are admirable and they should not be discriminated upon or discouraged and that they should be treated equally.
