IMPHAL, November 20: The National Library Week Celebration observed by Manipur Library Association in collaboration with a number of agencies in the state successfully concluded today with a valedictory function at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
RK Anand Singh, MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C and L Sabita Devi president of Manipur Library Association attended the function as chief guest and president while Dr Th Khomdon Singh, Chief Librarian and E Latakishwar Singh, Chief Librarian of State Central Library as guests of honour respectively.
During the week, MALA carried out a number of programmes at various parts of the state. The inaugural function was held on November 14 at the premises of the Meitei Artistes Association at Mongsangei, quiz competition on Nov 17 at Johnston, library awareness on Nov 19 Pravabati College Mayang Imphal and Moirang College Moirang, recitation competition on same day at Manipur Public School Koirengei and essay competition JNV Ukhrul.
Promotion of Islamic culture through library was organized at Chaobok Mairel Khul, Lilong on Nov 19.
As a part of the library week, a public library was opened by MALA at Mongsangei.
