IMPHAL, November 7: In continuation of its series of stir demanding the appointment of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Manipur State Co-operative Bank, the employees of MSCB Employee Association (MSCBEA), will launch a cease work strike tomorrow.

Announcing this during a press meet held today at its office, N Nandhir, secretary of the association stated that in order to revive the MSCB, the Central Government has granted a special ‘package for revival of short term rural co-operative credit structure’ adding that of the total Rs 47.26 crores, a sum of Rs 41.62 crores will be sponsored by the Union Government while the state’s share is Rs 4.62 crores, which has already been released.

At the same time, an MoU was signed on 30 June 2008 between central government, state government and Nabard.

However, despite the fact that all relevant measures have been taken up the Government has failed to appoint a CEO hindering the revival process, he said.

He recalled that the MSCB employees had already started with its agitation demanding the appointment of CEO, wearing black badges from October 22 to 28.

To further mount pressure on the Government, it announced its decision to continue the agitation, launching a one-day cease work strike at the Head Office of MSCB. Later on November 14, 2013, they will stage another daylong sit-in-protest at the District Head Quarters with representative of PACS.
