Prof Thomas to inaugurate 5000 MT Mayang Khang godown today

IMPHAL, November 12: The proposal of Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh for a FCI regional office in the state has been agreed by the Prime Minister and will be sanctioned after the completion of due procedure, said Union minister of state independent charge Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution, KV Thomas.

The Union minister of state independent charge arrived here in Imphal from Guwahati this afternoon on a two day visit to the state.

The Union minister was accorded with a warm welcome on his arrival at the Imphal airport by the officials of state Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution led by minister M Okendro Singh.

Speaking to media persons present at the airport, the visiting Union minister of state stated that the main purpose of his visit is to inaugurate one FCI godown having capacity of 5000 MT at Senapati district tomorrow.

He further assured that the Food Security Bill will be implemented in Manipur and the entire north east states by February/March of next year and a meeting was also held in this regard attended by him and concern ministers of the north eastern states yesterday at Guwahati.

The visiting union minister of state will also meet with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh before he leaves Imphal for New Delhi tomorrow afternoon.

The total cost of the FCI Godown to be inaugurated tomorrow is reported to be Rs 7.9 crores having three chambers and is constructed under the TP CELL HILL-II under RCS office Government of Manipur and handed over to the FCI in January last.
