RIMS Dental College inaugurated

IMPHAL, November 12: The first block of Dental College, RIMS was inaugurated today with a simple function with officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Delhi, SK Srivastava, additional secretary and financial adviser; Sakuntala Gamlin joint secretary and R P Meena director finance attending the function.

The official team of the union ministry later held a meeting on the allocation of developmental funds for RIMS, conveyed a press release from the media adviser, RIMS.

Welcoming the high officials, Prof Sekharjit said that the second year students of dental college are there and in due course there will be higher classes, it said and adding that Gamlin appreciated the excellent works done in RIMS and the two colleges.

She further said that human character is more important than infrastructure, it said.

Prof Damayanti mentioned that it was a big problem to accommodate the additional students of post graduate and under-graduate students while staff strength has not been increased.

Besides it was with much difficulty that the file on Dental College was reopened, she said.

SK Srivastava said that spot assessment is needed since Delhi is far off. He also assured that efforts would be made to increase the staff as required.

The meeting relating to the fund allocation was always held in Delhi in the past. However, for the first time, this meeting is held in RIMS.

Earlier the visiting officials accompanied by Director Prof S. Sekharjit, chairman of the Hostel Development Committee, Prof N Damayanti, Chief Accounts Officer E Debendra Meitei, Deputy Director (administration) Y Rajendra and others visited various sites inside the RIMS campus, it said.
