IMPHAL, November 20: The stage is all set for the 10 day long extravaganza-Manipur Sangai Festival- which is to be inaugurated on November 21. Roads leading to the main venue- Hafta Kangjeibung have been repaired; road sides adorned with decorative lights, road dividers re-painted, traffic regulations imposed in and around the main venue.
The atmosphere has been abuzz with hectic preparations for the successful conduct of the festival which aims to promote the state before the outside world.
Security being one of the main concerns during the ten day extravaganza, considering the recent spate of bomb blast in the state, a tight security arrangement has also been placed in and around the main venue and other strategic points.
To avert any form of disruption during the festival police will be monitoring the whole main venue round the clock with the help of 35 CCTV cameras placed at strategic points of the main venue.
The installation of the Closed Circuit Television cameras had been outsourced to a private company, Power Security Manipur.
Inspector General of Police (LO-I) L Kailun had on Tuesday issued an elaborate security arrangement concerning the safety and security of the public visitors.
The IGP had also requested the public to be vigilant and report any unusual object lying unattended to the PCR inside the festival venue.
He had requested co-operation from the public to thwart any anti-social elements attempts to disrupt the festival.
Live-streaming of the festival will also be provided on the web at www.sangaifestivalgovt.in powered by Cube 10 through six cameras installed inside the main venue.
Meanwhile, speaking to a group of media persons, first women of the state to conquer Mt Everest N Bidyapati said the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association will also conduct rafting, water zorbing, land zorbing, ATU Biking, spider-net, rope bridge crossing, sumo fight at the festival venue.
MMTA will also organize trekking at various sites.
