State announces traffic regulations ahead of Manipur Sangai Festival

IMPHAL, November 18: In connection with the Manipur SANGAI Festival, 2013 commencing from November 21-30 at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound, the an order of the director of Transport has introduced several traffic regulations in specified areas which came in effect of November 18 and will continue till November 30.

According to an official statement, a one way vehicular traffic has been enforced in the direction from West to East across Sanjenthong Bridge until the closing of the festival.

Vehicular traffic from the east should be diverted via Minuthong, Lamlong and Singjamei bridge, it said before adding that vehicular traffic shall be diverted at Thangal General Statue crossing.

The official statement further continued that a one Way Traffic from Thangal General Statue to Minuthong bridge, from south to north direction only has also been enforced.

Heavy vehicles including passenger traffic are to be diverted from Kongba junction towards Ayangpalli road and from Khongnang Karak towards Lamlomg bridge and Thangmeiband side, it said.

The official order has also directed that no idle parking of vehicles on both sides of the road between Sanjenthong bridge to Thangal

General Statue; on both sides of the road between Thangal General Statue to Minuthong bridge; in the lane from Advance Hospital to Harikhagok crossing will be allowed.

Meanwhile, Andro Parking (exclusively or buses operating passenger short shuttle service); Heijingang Ground (Imphal-Moreh Road);

Tiddim Ground (lmphal-Churachandpur road); Tera Bazar (Imphal-Jiribam, NH – 37); RIMS Gate; Thau Ground, Thangmeiband Pishumthong; ISBT, Deulaland; Lamlong Bazar; Star Ground near (DC/IE office); Kongba Bazar are declared as public parking lots for the public in general and for providing short shuttle bus services to the festival site.

Also in connection with the 7th Manipur Polo Interactional, 2013 from November 23 to 28 which coincides with the SANGAI FESTIVAL, the government has also enforced certain the traffic regulations in respect of Mapal Kangjeibung (Pologround).

The traffic regulation include intermediate public transport vehicles including Diesel Autos, traffic should, take right turn from the main road (Kangla Road) and on entering M-Sector by lane proceed towards Governor Road/ Paona Bazar Road via Fire Brigade Road. Further, no parking of vehicles other than VVIPs/VIPsl Organisers, Invitees etc will be allowed at Pologround Maning Parking adjacent to the venue of the International Polo Tournament and Indigenous Games.
