IMPHAL, December 24: The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) will start construction of 1300 kilometers of road by February next year in both hills and valley under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY).
Briefing media persons this morning at his office chamber, RD&PR Minister, Francis Ngajokpa, divulged that the project cost is estimated to be Rs 577 crores adding that a total of 1,100 Km falls under the hill districts while the rest 200 km falls under the valley district.
Further elaborating on the matter he stated that the project is the 9th phase consisting of 200 works. The works has been distributed in 40 Assembly constituencies of the valley amounting to Rs 106 crores and 20 Assembly constituencies in the hills amounting to Rs 471 crores.
Informing that the process for technical biding is over, financial bidding will be started from January 6, informed the Minister. At the same time, the construction work will start by February next year.
While the DPC for phase 10 has also been submitted, works for 502 Km of phase 8 costing Rs 254 crores will be completed by December, 2014.
There are 50 works under phase 8 and of the total 245 Km have been completed so far, said Ngajokpa.
Meanwhile, the phase 10 consists of 226 projects and the works distribution has been distributed 80:20 similar to the previous projects like phase 8 and 9 to ensure that equal development is brought for both valley and hill districts, added the Minister.
As a part of today’s interaction with the media, Fancis Ngajokpa formally released a wall calendar of the RD&PR department.
