IMPHAL, December 21: Chief minister Okram Ibobi will inaugurate a power sub-station and lay the foundation stone of another at Thanlon and Pherzawl respectively in Thanlon sub-division of Churachandpur district on December 23 next.
During the programme, the chief minister will launch the Thanlon Special Package and lay the foundation stone for Tribal Inclusive Growth Complex.
According to an official source, Ibobi will inaugurate a 33/11 KV sub-station and participate in the ritual ceremony for construction of another sub-station with a capacity of 132/33 KV.
Later, the chief minister will launch the Thanlon Special Package which is being taken up under the Indira Awas Yojna for Thanlon Tribal Development Block. He will also participate in the service for laying the foundation stone of the administrative complex of SDO/BDO.
The parliamentary secretary for horticulture and soil conservation and CADA, Vungzagin Valte, will preside over all the four functions where the chief minister had been invited as the chief guest. Deputy chief minister Gaikhangam, chief secretary P Lawmkunga, DGP Sahid Ahmad, DC of Churachandpur and top officials will be accompanying the chief minister.
The VIP team will be transported for the programme on a special Pawan Hans helicopter requisitioned from the Ministry of Home Affairs exclusively for the occasion. Trial landing for the chopper at the new helipads at Thanlon and Pherzawl was conducted after it was flown from Shillong in Meghalaya and made a brief stop at Kangla helipad.
According to sources, the inauguration of the Thanlon power subdivision will begin at around 11 am.
Security measures at Thanlon and Pherzawl had been beefed up in advance before the arrival of the VIPs and top police officials along with a heavy re-enforcement team have already been stationed there.
