IMPHAL, December 8: The International Indian Classical Dance Festival 20013 organized in connection with the 76th Vyasa Pujah ceremony of BS Damodara Swami Srila Sripada was held today at Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC).
The one day dance festival with several artiste of international fame both from the state and outside participating is being organized by the Ranganiketan, Srila Sripada Educational Foundation.
Speaking at the function, Additional Director General of Police, P Mounalana Goud stated that BS Damodara Swami Srila Sripada wanted Manipur to be a peaceful, prosperous and progressive state.
The state is known as ‘Sanaleibak’, however the present situation of the state which is full of violence and other disturbances is in complete contrast to the name, he observed.
The state has a rich heritage of arts, culture and tradition with different communities residing together; however, the chaos and confusion arising out of the myriad of problems like insurgency, gun-culture, etc have defaced the beauty of the state, he continued.
BS Damodara Swami Srila Sripada was an outstanding and highly religious individual having a background of science, he said and added that during his life time his speech at every national, international platform or meeting highlighted that peace, prosperous, progressive and science should go hand in hand for a better place.
He further expressed his belief that the people of the state will soon succeed in bringing peace, prosperity and progress to the state.
Professor Ganghumei Kamei said that BS Damodara Swami Srila Sripada was a good human with a persona of making people turn their lives for the betterment.
He further observed that it is a moment of pride for all that such considerate and spiritual human was born in Manipur.
Meanwhile, after the function, several international Indian classical dancers showcased there dances.
Floral tributes were also paid to a statue of BS Damodara Swami Srila Sripada during the function.
During the festival, Laxmi Devi performed Dasa Avatar, Dhanushka Washeera performed Krishna Nartan, Nandarani Devi performed Manipuri Solo, Reepa Devi performed Manipuri Solo, M Dineshwari Devi performed Nannichuri, Tamanna Rahaman performed Manipuri Solo, Sita from France Odyssey dance and Guru L Lakpati Singh and party performed Nata Shankirtan.
Tamanna Rahaman and her party from Bangladesh concluded the function with Manipuri Rasa Dance.
