IMPHAL December 24: The JAC formed in connection with the death of Keithellakpam ongbi Devjani at RIMS Hospital blocked the road at a three-way junction near the Consumer Affair Food and Public Distribution godown today demanding the handing over of the post mortem report and stopped FCS vehicles from ferrying supply from the godown or loading there.
The restriction imposed by the committee began early morning after women members of the JAC came out in large numbers and took over control of the traffic at a strategic stretch of the road which also connects Tiddim road with NH-53.
Speaking to media persons, a member of the JAC, Th Langlen said that they have blocked the road as a protest after the concerned authorities failed to provide the post mortem report after a month had elapsed since her death on November 20. Although, the assurance was to provide the post mortem report within 15 days, one month has passed, she said.
Family members along with the JAC members had approached the concerned authorities to get the post mortem report but nothing concrete has materialised, she said.
The director of RIMS has on four occasions evaded requests for appointment, she claimed adding that during the period the investigating police team had visited the victim’s family only once.
She further threatened that until the post mortem report is handed over to the family or JAC, they will gradually intensify the stir.
