IMPHAL, December 11: A team of the Manipur Loumi Lup today organised a rally at new Delhi from Ramlila Maidan to Jantar Mantar and later held a dharna after the rally.
Sources from New Delhi said that the rally started at 10 am led by H Ibobi Singh, secretary of the Manipur Loumi Lup.
During the rally, participants were seen holding red flags, festoons, placards.
Give enough compensation to farmers and fishermen who are affected by Loktak Project, complete the projects and dams of Manipur in time, provide Rs 3000 per month to every farmer household, provide drinking water and irrigation to all villages, provide essential items through PDS, provide seeds, fertilizers, etc and remove Armed Forces Special Powers Act were the main demands of the demonstrations.
Pramod Panda, MP and president of the All India Kishan Sabha and its general secretary Atul Kumar Ranjan; L Sotinkumar, general secretary of the All India Trade Union, Manipur State Committee; Shakhi Devi, vice-president of the All Manipur Nupi Marup and Kshetrimayum Shanta, convenor of the Coordinating Body of Trade Union, Manipur participated in the dharna.
The Manipur delegation consisting of seven members led by Pramod Panda, MP will meet Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh tomorrow and submit a memorandum.
