IMPHAL, December 21: The Zeliangrong Youth Front and the government of Manipur have come to an understanding that there will be “on spot enquiry/verification” on the reported issue of land encroachment on January 5, 2014 with participation of some MLAs, departmental officials of revenue department from both Tamenglong district and Jiribam.
According to a statement of the youth front, the development came following the ZYF’s strong demand for erection of border pillars at Phaitol, Kamranga and Khedagor and for proper demarcation of district boundary between Tamenglong district and Jiribam following illegal encroachment.
After submission of the enquiry/verification report to the state government, the ZYF and the state government will have another meeting to finalize the issue.
The next joint meeting to be held after submission of the report will also dwell and discuss on other points already submitted to the state government by the ZYF, it said.
In this regard, the government has instructed the commissioner, Revenue department to issue orders on December 21, 2014 for conducting the said inquiry/verification, the statement further said while assuring full cooperation to the government.
