BISHNUPUR, December 10: The United NGOs Mission Manipur has today observed International Fortnight Observation Protesting Violence against Women with a theme “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World – Let us Challenge Militarism and End Violence against Woman” at the office of People’s Resource Development Association (PRDA), Bishnupur district.
L Marjit Singh, District Youth Coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra Bishnupur district, A Kameshwar Singh, District Social Welfare Officer of Bishnupur and W Lata Devi, Legal Expert of Family Counselling Centre of the district attended the international observance as the presidium members respectively. The representatives of various NGOs, Angalwadi Workers and UNM-M’s network members of the district participated in the international observation.
During the function, I Jugeshwar Singh, principal of the Royal Academy of Law Oinam delivered lectures as a resource person. The resource person maintained that we the people always seek the birth right of a citizen without having work culture and lack of dutiful mindset which resulted in creating many crimes in the state.
He further mentioned the need to adopt work culture so as to minimise social issues. In case of crime related with law and order, the public is tortured by armed groups as well as security forces which resulted in enforcing AFSPA in the state. He maintained that this act could not make solution as this act only gives power to security forces thereby creating more crimes.
