IMPHAL, January 31: Active members of the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) continue to join the BJP fold.
After, three active members of the regional party including its advisor and ex-MLA, PA Thecko joined the BJP on Friday, another two active members have joined the party today.
The two are Jonathan Tao of Karong and L Hingba Thomas from Tadubi, both from Senapati district and active members of NPF.
Addressing a reception function at the party office today, president Th Chaoba said that the BJP condemns the boycotting of Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur by some organizations and hinted that it might have political influence.
Th Chaoba said that the party is glad to receive the NPF members and this will help in strengthening the party objective. He expressed his confident that the BJP will win the MP outer seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Aside from the NPF members, Reverend Thangkholal Thangshing and chief of Mong-on village, Thanlon joined BJP. He was earlier associated with Trinamool Congress.
He told IFP that the BJP does not have a communal agenda or play discriminatory tactics to communities. “Being a theologian, I don’t see any problems in joining BJP. A wrong impression is deliberately created about the party, it is not religiously inclined,” he said.
Jonathan Tao and Hingba Thomas also added that they feel that BJP can make a difference in developing the hill districts. Tao mentioned that the Congress party is rooted in corruption and people are tired of it. Stating that there is a wave of change in the Centre, he expressed optimism BJP will get maximum votes in the Lok Sabha elections at Senapati district.
Hingba Thomas in similar note mentioned that there is not much development schemes that a regional party can do. Funds are provided by the centre and a national party is needed to bring about holistic development in the hill districts adding that to bring such change, he joined the BJP.
