IMPHAL, January 23: The full dress rehearsal of the officers of various state departments, disabled persons and cultural troupes of the Republic Day celebration was held at Imphal today.
The rehearsal was led by parade commander, N Herojit Meetei, Commandant of 6th India Reserved Battalion. A total number of 84 contingents which included those from CRPF, BSF, two armoured contingents, Manipur Police, Manipur Home guards, IRB, Manipur Rifles and Manipur Fire Services, social- welfare departments (ICDS), fifty school and colleges contingents, NCC contingents for both boys and girls, 4 contingents of govt. departments, 4 contingents of cultural troupes, a contingent of disabled persons, 8 band party contingents including police from both state and central forces took part.
The parade started from 1st Manipur Rifle Parade Ground and after passing the Chief Minister’s Bungalow entered Kangla Southern gate and further took salute at Kangla. It continued to the Northern gate and proceeded to Khuyathong till the Raj Bhavan and entered Manipur Rifle from its Western gate. Today’s full rehearsal was saluted by Aribam Bashanta Sharma, MPS, Assistant Commandant of 6th India Reserved Battalion. The announcement of names of police personnel for exemplary service was conducted. The 65th R-Day was also held at the mini stadium of Bishnupur where 26 contingents took part. The parade commander was M Pradipkumar Singh, IPS, (ASP/CDO) BPR.
