Seperate road mishaps claim lives at CCpur, Tbl, Ukl

Seperate road mishaps in the state during the last 48 hours have claimed four lives.

A road mishap at Ukhrul had killed a man, while two others lost thier lives in seperate road mishaps in CCpur. Another road accident at Thoubal claimed another live.

Woman killed in Ukl road mishap

UKHRUL, January 30: A 28-year-old woman was killed while another woman grievously wounded when a speeding Shaktiman truck lost control and knocked them down while they were standing at the roadside in the heart of Ukhrul town on Wednesday evening.

Sources said the deceased identified as Tamreiwon Shanglai daughter of Shangreiphao Shanglai of Litan and her sister in law identified as Mirinchan Shanglai wife of Chuireingam of the same village were standing in front of the NEPFIC office gate at Hamleikhong when the speeding truck bearing regn no MN-07C-3370 coming from the Hungpung village side towards Ukhrul town, ploughed into them around 6 pm on Wednesday.

Tamreiwon sustained critical injuries on the lower abdomen while Mirinchan was seriously wounded on the leg during the accident. Both were rushed to the nearby CHRSC hospital but Tamreiwon succumbed to injuries around 6:30 pm the same evening while Mirinchan has been referred to hospitals in Imphal.

The truck driver identified as one Soreithan son of Solomon of Nungou village is still at large. Meanwhile, the truck belonging to P Ngachonmi of Roni village has been impounded by the police and a case registered with the Ukhrul Police Station, police sources added.

Road accident claims life

THOUBAL: The driver of a Maruti Van was killed while a passenger survived with serious injuries in a road accident along the national Highway number 102 Imphal Moreh road near Khongjom war memorial gate yesterday at around 8 pm under Thoubal police Station in Thoubal district.

A silver coloured Maruti Van bearing regd no AS-01 AA/2829 heading towards Kakching Lamkhai from Thoubal met with a head on collision with a Tata Dumper bearing regd no AS- 11 AC/6854 coming from the opposite direction. The Maruti van fell into the roadside drain killing a passenger of the van, while the driver survived with serious injuries.

The deceased driver has been identified as Md Farooque alias Abothem, 31, son of Ishauddin of Sangaiyumphal Cherapur Part (II) and the seriously injured passenger as Md Ithem, 38, son of Oudurjan of the same locality.

Family members have claimed the body of Abothem after post mortem was conducted at JNIMS Morgue, and police have taken up a case regarding the incident.

Two die in separate accidents

CCPUR, January 30: A fatal accident occurred at  Turbung Bangla, an accident-prone area in Churachandpur, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old boy.

The victim is identified as Robin (18) son of Naobi of Bijang ,Lamka . He was riding pillion in an Access 125 scooter driven by Premjit, 25, son of Bihari of Potsei Leikai of Imphal, who was also seriously injured. Premjit is in a critical condition.

The incident occurred around 11.30 am when Premjit, the driver of the JCB owned by Thangjang of Lamka, was heading towards  Imphal in the scooter to procure some parts of the JCB at Imphal.  The body of the deceased was torn and the white access scooter in which they were riding was also torn into pieces when it collided with a stationary Tata 407 truck which was reportedly parked near the roadside due to a collision with a Saktiman truck yesterday.

Meanwhile in another accident, a man called H.Thangliankhum (33) s/o H.Thangmang  of Bungmual was  found death at New Bazaar area of Lamka this morning . He was  kept at the CCpur District Mortuary by the Churachandpur  Police. After an autopsy, his corpse was handed over to his family.   The Post mortem report suggested that he didn’t die of any foul play but because of an accident. He is survived by his two son who are studying at class 9 and class 4 in a school at Lamka.
