IMPHAL, January 28: A deaf and dumb, 10-year old girl who had gone out on the evening of January 22 around 3 pm has failed to return home ever since and an FIR was filed on January 24 with the Kumbi Police, said the L Indubala, vice president of the JAC formed in connection with the missing girl.
She said that it is unfortunate that the police is unable to trace out the girl even after such a long time.
The girl had been sent out to tend to their household cattle on the fateful day she went missing, the JAC vice president said.
Addressing the press conference at the Manipur Press Club today, she identified the girl as Laishram Shumila, 10, daughter of L Amuthoi of Chandonpokpi under Bishnupur district.
Ever since, the girl was found missing, the locals have been searching for the girl using even loudspeakers, she said.
She further appealed to all the civil society organisations and the state government help in finding the missing girl.
There have been several instances of child kidnapping and trafficking, and the incident could be related to one such crime, she said.
