KANGPOKPI, February 25: Interestingly though any of the tribal organization within Sadar Hills do not announced their endorsement of the Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas Manipur(COPTAM) 72 hrs “Chakka Bandh” which came into force yesterday midnight in all hill districts of Manipur has been intensely effective along NH-2 within Sadar Hills today.
All passenger buses plying along the highway stayed off the road while private vehicles were partially seen on the highway.
In the meantime, inter-state passenger buses, wingers as well tankers including other commodity transporters were severely affected by the COPTAM chakka bandh.
Kangpokpi to Imphal bound passenger bus parking wore a deserted looked while the same happen at Sapormeina and Motbung as well.
Many commuters along the NH-2 within Sadar Hills faced lots of inconvenience due to the Chakka bandh which will continue for another two days.
Only candidates of the on going Class XI & XII Examinations conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur who were exempted from the purview of the bandh were seen along the highway.
However, considering the on going examinations the Naga Peoples Organization (NPO) had earlier announced not to endorsed the COPTAM 72 hrs “Chakka Bandh” though they are very much aware of the genuineness of the COPTAM demands for the welfare of the tribal people.
Though the Chakka bandh has been effective no untoward incident has been reported today till filing of this report.
