IED found at CCpur

CHURACHANDPUR, February 25: For the third time since the Republic Day this year, an IED was found and detonated at Churachandpur district.

The IED was found in between Turbung and Khiangjang villages in Churachandpur by a Khiangzan villager who was passing by.

A villager from Khiangzan said that he had detected an unidentified object wrapped up in a black polythene near a sign board along the Teddim Road and was about to handle it when better sense prevailed and he along with other villagers decided to inform the 1/11 Gorkha Regiment posted near their village.

Soon after receiving the information, the GR swing into action using sniffer dogs.

The Gorkha Regiment called in their engineering company posted at Bishnupur who brought in their bomb experts and after defusing the bomb detonated it at a safe place.

Meanwhile, a villager lamented that had the bomb been picked up by the innocent kids, the consequence could have been disastrous.

He further questioned why the “uncivilised and unresponsive” group have been targeting the area frequently.

Meanwhile, Hanga Kipgen who identified himself as secretary Khiangzang Village Authority told media persons that the act was inhuman on the part of the perpetrators; and further appealed to all concerned against repeating such violent action in the area.

He further said that the villagers condemn the act in the strongest possible term.
