CCPUR, February 26: In a shocking incident and embarrassment of the “Friends of the hill people” – Assam Riffle (AR), two IEDs were found planted next to an AR sentry post which stands just at about five meter from their post about the same distance from their RP post.
Sources said a Road Opening Party of the 7th Assam Rifles had around 5.40an today, detected suspicious objects from near the 27 Sector AR headquarter.
Subsequent investigation proved the objects to be Improvised Explosive Device.
The AR team than informed the bomb experts from Leimakhong who dispatch their Army engineering team to recover and detonate the IED.
By noon, the experts proved beyond doubt that the two IEDs packed in two blue polythene bags.
The two IEDs were detonated safely within 30 seconds of each other by the bomb experts.
No officials were available for comments on the weight of the IEDs.
It may be mentioned that another IED was found yesterday and subsequently detonated near Khiangzang village which is about 2 Km from the 27 AR HQ Camp.
The general public is confused as to how such detection and detonation of such high calibre explosives have become a daily process.
Several onlookers had also questioned as to how such explosives could be planted near the security forces.
An onlooker questioning the logic behind the planting of explosives, further speculated the involved of valley based SoO signatory groups and security forces.
