Jiribam body counters KSO, KWU allegation, addl DC clarifies

JIRIBAM, February 21: The Ngamkhei Kanba Lup(NKL) of Jiribam has issued a press release on Thrusday, against the allegation of Kuki Students’ Organisation and the Kuki Women Union of Tamenglong district, on people of the sub-division encroaching land belonging to Tamenglong villages– Leisangphai (Muktokhal), Pangkotphai, Ngahmunphai, Phaitol, Kamranga Khasia & Khedagor – Khasia.

The statement said that the disputed land mentioned by KSO and KWU was jointly surveyed by the DC, Tamenglong and the ADC, Jiribam along with a team of the Department of Settlement on January 7, 2014 and the boundary of the disputed land are yet to be finalized officially.

Further the Ngamkhei Kanba Lup said that there is no any such report of encroachment of lands by the people of Jiribam, the allegation of KSO and KWU are baseless and unreasonable.

Meanwhile the Ngamkhei Kanba Lup also said that the 72 hours blockade called by the Kuki Students’ Organisation and Kuki Women Union will only affect the people of Manipur, and will not bring any solution to the problem.

It also said that only deliberation and negotiation can bring solution to the dispute.

The NKL also asserted that incase the supporters of the bandh called by KSO and KWU based on unreasonable demands continue with the bandh along the NH-37, then the Ngamkhei Kanba Lup will also not remain silent, and may even counter the bandh.

Meawhile, in a separate statement, the additional deputy commissioner, Jiribam Y Iboyaima Singh has also clarified on the allegations of KSO amd KWU regarding the permission and instruction of the addl DC on the land encroachment of the disputed boundary issue.

The additional deputy commissioner said that he has not granted any permission nor instructed anybody – else or any group to encroach upon the land.
