KANGPOKPI, February 10: The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills today announced its endorsement of ATSUM’s proposed indefinite economic blockade scheduled to begin from February 16.
Speaking to a local media person this evening at Kangpokpi, N Sehjalien Gangte, secretary Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills said that after analysing the position statements of All Tribal Student’s Union Manipur (ATSUM) led by its president Emboi Serto the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills have resolved to fully support and endorse the proposed indefinite economic blockade of ATSUM for the cause of the tribal people.
The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills has appealed to the people of Sadar Hills to endorse and support the movement for the cause of tribal people and render cooperation for fruitful success of the agitation, said Gangte before adding that the discriminatory attitude of the state government towards the tribal people of the state is well known by the people.
Therefore, the tribal people should unite and stand together for their future, he said.
The Inpi also urged transporters plying along the NH-2 particularly those transporting daily commodities to abstain from their service and warn to bear all responsibility if they do not comply and accept the humble request of the Inpi.
While drawing the attention of the state government to bring amicable solution for the welfare of the tribal people, KISH also informed the government to carry all burden if any unwanted incidents rise out of the agitation if the government fail to solve the issue at the stipulated time.
Meanwhile, according to the NNN, the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) on Monday has endorsed the All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) led by Emboi Serto to launch indefinite economic blockade from February 16 in protest against the non-fulfillment of its demand by the Manipur Government.
While lashing out against the state government for not considering the genuine demand and interest of the tribal community as stated by ATSUM, the SDSA noted that these demands are long pending and need immediate attention.
Endorsing the position of the ATSUM, the SDSA said it will fully supports and co-operates with the proposed indefinite economic blockade to be launched by ATSUM starting from February 16.
It also condemned the alleged indifferent attitude of the State Government in addressing the demands of the tribal people and that it will only draw negative consequent between the people and Government, the news agency said.
