IMPHAL, February 27: There are altogether 1502 schools of the state Education department included in the CPIS of the Finance department. According to the CPIS database of the Finance department there are altogether 14631 teachers.
This was stated by state Education minister Moirangthem Okendro Singh replying to a starred question from Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar.
The Andro MLA had urged the details of the total number of high schools, primary schools and junior primary schools and there district-wise locations under the state Education department.
He had further asked the number of teachers under the school department.
Further in his reply, the minister had said that there is ongoing process to fill the number of vacant posts against promotion quoto by conducting DPC; however, vacant post against Direct Recruitment Quota will be filled only when the government’s recruitment ban is lifted.
Replying to another starred question from Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykishan Singh on whether there is lack of funds for the construction/ repairing of primary school infrastructure, the minister replied in the affirmative.
Meawhile MLA L Ibomcha had asked “What steps have the Manipur government taken up for the printing of Meitei Mayek on the Indian currency note as other languages included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution?”
Replying to the question, state Education minister M Okendro said initially there were only 15 languages which were included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Only the 15 languages are printed on the Indian currency.
Since there is no instruction from the Finance Ministry of the Indian government for the inclusion of the Manipuri and other newly added languages, there have been no steps taken up in this regard, he said.

RD & PR minister Francis Ngajokpa replied in the negative to a question raised by MLA Dr Ng Bijoy on whether it is true that initially, members of the gram panchayat sponsor the works taken up by the job card holders under the MGNREGS.
There are 36 numbers of works in Imphal East district for which the funds are yet to be released, he further replied to another question.
