IMPHAL, February 23: A job card holder gets 90 plus day wages in Tripura under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act while the work order for the job card holders is jointly issued by the Pradhan and Panchayat secretary.
This was stated by Konthoujam Rabindra Singh, chairman of the Block Level Panchayat Samiti, Tripura during an interaction with IFP in Imphal today.
Rabindra is in Imphal to attend the release function of Village Development Profile of Manipur held at Panchayat Bhavan on Saturday.
He left Imphal today by 1.30 pm by flight.
He had further said that there are 596 Gram Panchayat in Tripura and added that each GP has Village Committee, Panchayat Samiti and Gram Rosgar Sevika which are opening daily.
Responding to a query, he replied that annually, one GP has spent Rs 80-90 lakhs while the annual action plan was formulated by the GP itself and the statement of account for every year was discussed during the annual meeting of the Gram Sabha.
Regarding selection of beneficiaries, Rabindra maintained that all the beneficiary selection of a GP was done by the members of the GP.
Regarding Social Welfare schemes, he narrated that the workers in the un-organised sector subscribe Rs 50 and Tripura government provides its matching share of Rs 50 to Provident Fund Programme which was initiated by the state government. He continued that a family gets Rs 20,000 when a bread earner dies under National Family Benefit Scheme.
He also mentioned that a construction worker gets education loan, housing loan and also treatment benefit at the time accident by only contributing Rs 30 while Tripura government contributes a matching share of Rs 30. Rabindra added that the certificates of construction workers are issued by the concern Gram Panchayat.
Altogether 22 social welfare schemes are operating in the state, he said and added that Fish farmers, Barber, Cobbler and Rickshaw Puller etc get pension benefit of Rs 500 per month at the age of 55 years while women deserted, widow and unmarried woman who attains 45 year are also provided monthly pension amount of Rs 500.
Answering to a query, Rabindra informed IFP that under the scheme of Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Tripura government provides Rs 300 to first girl child. The amount is deposited in a bank account in the name of the child accumulatively for 16 years and the second girl child also gets same benefit but not for the third girl child, he added.
In education sector, the people of Tripura only depend to government school. He further informed that government provides building to all Anganwadi Centres, Rabindra stated and added that an Anganwadi worker enjoys Rs 5000 per month.
