Village Development Profile Released

IMPHAL, February 22: The Manipur State Panchayat Parishad has come out with Village Development Profile. It was released at Panchayat Bhawan Porompat at a function today. Md Amin Shah, Parliamentary Secretary MOBC, Science and technology was the chief guest. T Itobi Singh president Manipur State Panchayat Parishad presided over the function. Eminent Economist, Prof N Mohendro Singh was also present.

Though the release of the Profile is a bit late, however it will be very helpful to the villagers and their representatives, said Amin Shah. He further mentioned that he had already conveyed the pressing issues to the minister concern. The matter has already been discussed in the cabinet. Sharing his optimism he stated that the profile will help in bringing about development in the nine blocks of four districts, which has 161 gram panchayats in total.

He urged for proper utilisation of funds. The rules provided in the Profile should be followed for smooth functioning of the panchayat.

Economist N. Mohendro said that the Govt of Manipur has submitted its proposal regarding the panchayats’ welfare programs to be included in the 14th Finance Commission of govt. of India. He further mentioned that instead of depending only on the centre people should work hard together for development. It is high time that people become self-reliant. The release of Village Profile is first of its kind in Manipur. It will help in promotion of rural tourism, waste land development and many other beneficial works in the rural areas, he said.

Chairman Core Committee, Konthoujam Rabindra Singh Chairman, Block Panchayat Samiti, North Tripura, Th Itoibi Devi Adhyaksha of Bishnupur District, Kh Surnalata Devi, Adhyaksha of Thoubal District, K Tombi singh Adhyaksha of Imphal East District and Y Dashumati Devi, Adhyaksha Imphal West were also present on the dais.
