IMPHAL, Feb 22 (NNN): No transporters operated along the Imphal-Silchar road nor National Highway 37 since this morning as the tribal organisations began their 72 hours bandh along the highway.
The Kuki Students Organisation (Tamenglong district) and Kuki Women Union (Tamenglong district) supported by KSO-General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) and Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur (ZSUM) have begun their bandh in protest against the alleged perpetual encroachment of the `tribal lands` in Tamenglong district.
No untoward incident was reported due to the bandh. The tribal bodies then warned of intensifying the bandh if the state government of Manipur continues to remain callous over the matter.
