IMPHAL, March 9: The BJP and Congress are spitting images of one another while CPI is a fertilizer of the latter.

This was alleged by state secretary CPI (ML) S Shyamsunder, also a member of central committee of CPI (ML) in a simple function while declaring Lamlalmoi from Longpi Village under Nungba Sub-division Tamenglong District as the party’s outer constituency candidate in the upcoming 16th Lok Sabha Election.

Mentioning that his party will contest the elections for safeguarding the integrity of the state boundary and repeal AFSPA, he said that the CPI leaders were aware about the border dispute when the secular progressive front government was in power but remained mute because the Congress bought them.

CPI acted as a fertilizer for the grand old party by supporting them when they were weaken.

Alleging the Congress and BJP as facsimiles of each other, he said that both are communal forces and enemy to the poor.

If the territorial integrity of Manipur is tempered, the whole of India will disintegrate. Manipur was Independent before 1949 but after singing the merger agreement under duress, an act violative of the UN charter, it became dependent on India.

He cited the forced signing of the agreement as the main reason for insurgency gaining ground in the state. If the merger agreement was not signed forcefully, Manipur won’t have faced problems of unemployment, rape, discrimination against women.

The manifesto of CPI (ML) contains solution to problems of unemployment, opposition to oil exploration and construction of Dams, inclusion of Nepalis in the ADC, turning Jiribam and Sadar Hills into a full-fledged state, initiation of political dialogue with Kuki armed groups under SoO, implementation of inner line permit system in the state, setting up of agriculture and small light industries and changing governance into a socialist pattern, Shyamsunder said.

The central committee has announced 80 candidates a week before and the state CPI (ML) announced the candidate for outer constituency on Sunday. The CPI (ML) and other likeminded parties will field a common candidate for the Inner Manipur constituency.

The press meet was also attended by outer constituency candidate Lamlalmoi and party control commission’s Shija Gopalmacha.
