IMPHAL, April 11: The Congress is the preferred political party of the people because of its commitment to meet its promises made, said Okram Ibobi Singh during a one day political meeting today.
The political meeting was held under the theme “Youth Power is the Nation Power” at Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai, Moirang Subedar Lampak.
He said, that both UPA I and II have ended successfully and there is widespread believe that UPA III will certainly come to power with the mandate of the people.
People are aware that the BJP government is not stable and if such party is brought to power then it could only lead to problems, he said.
The people have already witnessed the rules of both the BJP and CPI, he continued.
Further continuing his speech, the CM said that the people believe in the governance of the Congress and progress brought by the party.
The party is confident of coming to power again, he said.
Under the party’s rule, the state has seen much development, he said and added that the Manipur University had been upgraded to a central university, RIMS has been upgraded to the level of AIMS and JNIMS has been expanded, etc.
He further stated that the party have done many developmental works for the state such as Manipur University has been upgraded as central university, RIMS has been upgraded to the level of AIMS and JNIMS has been expanded etc.
The remaining will be continuing in the future also and it is the aim and objective of the party to work for the development for the people.
Chief Minister urged the public to vote the Congress candidates and make the party to work for the people.
Dr Th Meinya inner candidate for the 16th Lok Sabah Election for the Congress party appealed the people to vote for him in the coming election for strengthening of the party to take up various development works in the state.
Many schemes and programs for the welfare of the people have done by party under the guidance of Sonia Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh and Okram Ibobi Singh.
