Ecotourism Conclave concludes

IMPHAL, April 8: The two-day Manipur Ecotourism Conclave came to an end at the Classic Hotel on Tuesday.

Secretary of North-East Council Ameising Luikham, Principal Secretary of Tourism Dr Rajesh Kumar, ESOI Honorary Secretary Rakesh Mathur were the main speakers.

Talking about Ecotourism-Products and Potential on the last day of the technical section, Ameising Luikham said that the north-east have certain areas for tourism sector developments. Tourism can be engaged by villages for promoting eco-tourism. People should have proper picnic spots for the development of the tourism sector. The Sangai festival must be organised every year. Andro must be developed as a tourist spot and three hospitals need to be promoted for medical tourism.

Meanwhile, Dr Rajesh Kumar said that Meitei culture is a composite culture and so many other cultures exists in the state. Loktak Lake and Keibul Lamjao National Park will be developed in the state. Manipur has a developed culture and by 2020 Indian railways will enter the state.

Speaking on sustainable development and tourism, Rakesh Mathur said that a long sustainable plan is important for the tourism sector. Planning well in advance for the rural areas for promoting tourism in the state is required. People need to support the development of tourism sector in the state, he added.
