IMPHAL, April 22: Re-poll at the 31/1 Moijing-A polling station in Thoubal district was conducted today with a huge deployment of security personnel both of the central paramilitary forces and state police personnel.
The re-poll recorded a 87.42 poll percentage.
The CEO Manipur has identified 31/1 Moijing-A polling as hyper sensitive and accordingly, the concern RO had deployed one platoon of 54 BSF personnel in addition to state police forces.
It may be mentioned that repoll was made necessary after the votes casted turned out to be more than the number of voters on the voters’ list. Although there were only 771 voters in the list, the number of votes cast was recorded to be 773 votes.
During the re-poll today, 674 voters exercised their franchise which included 327 male and 347 females.
Thoubal SP, K Radheshyam and Dy SP, Thoubal Dr S Ibomcha Singh personally monitored the security arrangement during the re-poll.
Micro Observer and Sector Magistrate were also deputed on the spot for the smooth conduct of the election. In addition, a SDC acted as the Presiding Officer with his staff acting as the polling personnel.
As part of the security arrangement, people other than the voters and officials were not allowed to enter the polling station beyond 200 meters, with full video coverage of the entire poll process.
Both male and female voters were also checked.
Meanwhile, candidates including Dr T Meinya Singh, Dr RK Ranjan Singh, Dr M Nara Singh and Dr G Tonsana Sharma visited the polling station.
