IMPHAL, April 28: Griped with fear following recovery of a live bullet from their hostel, hostellers of the girls’ hostel of DM college of Arts today staged a sit in protest in front of DM College Arts Block Gate.

The sit in protest was  organised by the DM college of Arts Students’ Union.

It has been informed that this was the second time that a bullet was recovered within the hostel premises triggering an insecure atmosphere among the hostellers.

Speaking to the media on the sideline of the protest, a student protestor disclosed that the first incident happened on March 23 last.

Students also found another live bullet from the same place on April 14, she said.

After the first instance, the students had informed the college authority following which an entrance to the hostel for visitors was closed, she said while adding that the hostellers were not that much apprehensive after the first instance.

However, with the recovery of another live bullet from the same place, the environment in the hostel has not been the same, she asserted.

Despite having been apprised of the situation, the Principal of the college has failed to take up any positive measures so far, she lamented.

No security arrangement was made she complained while adding that the situation have worsened as the hostellers are deprived of visitors and no students could concentrate on their studies since the second instance.

She further appealed to the college authority to open the visitor’s gate of the ladies hostel at the earliest and also appeal to all concerned to make the campus an a free zone.
