KANGPOKPI, May 2: It is very unfortunate that some Civil Society Organisations are trying to create a misunderstanding between two communities without acknowledging the facts in the case of the Agriculture minister Abdul Nasir and ZEO Thoubal, said ATSUM in a press communique released Friday.

Kakam Haokip, education Ssecretary ATSUM stated that pertaining to the situation and the communal tinge that is being blown out of proportion by some unwanted individuals it is very pertinent for ATSUM to clarify and justify the facts after proper investigation.

He continued that ATSUM after proper investigation found out that it is a case for construction of EGS centre at Leiphrakpam Laishram Mamang Leikai under Lilong A/C of which the Agri minister is the chairman and the ZEO/Tbl. is the member secretary.

It is very pertinent to note that as the chairman, it is Abdul Nasir’s duty to rebuke, correct and advise his secretary to follow the guidelines of the ministry, asserted Kakam Haokip.

He added that there might be some misunderstanding and some chiding from the higher ups but that cannot be construed as communal and personal.

“It is very official and as a social organization we cannot jump and try to manipulate the case as anti-tribal or communal” pointed out Kakam.

ATSUM appeals to all the Civil Society Organisations both valleys and hills not to create any communal tinge out of this misunderstanding but to bring an amicable solution. ATSUM also would like to request the concern authority not to take up any action against the concern officer, said the statement.

Kakam further continued that in the name of ATSUM anybody must not try to create any communal feelings because ATSUM never interferes in the administration of the state government or any kind of development works which is purely under the purview of the government.

ATSUM has never been communal in its 40 years of history and has never taken a case which does not directly or indirectly affect the tribals of the state and the students’ communities in particular, noted Kakam Haokip.
