IMPHAL, May 20: The best of Mumbai International Film Festival, 2014 which is organised by Manipur Film Development Corporation Limited in collaboration with Films Division, the Central Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was inaugurated today at MFDC multipurpose auditorium.
The inaugural film screened in the best of MIFF, 2014 which will continue till May 22 was the Gitanjali Rao directed ‘True Love Story’, an 18- minute-long ode to love.
Speaking at the function, Art and Culture commissioner Dr RK Nimai Singh said that he appreciated the effort to provide opportunities of watching such award winning films in the state, adding that screening such films will encourage film lovers and those who are involved n the process of film making.
Continuing that the state lacks in the field of films in comparison to other states as there is no studio for films, he said that even though the state is lagging behind in the field of films there are many award winning films.To get awards in such festivals is precious and it is the hard work of the individuals involved who succeed even if the state lacks facilities, he said.
Managing Director of MFDC, Dr K Sobita Devi said that the main objective of the festival is to showcase award winning films of the 13th Mumbai International Film Festival, 2014. She continued that the purpose of organising such film fest is to highlight the award winning films of MIFF, 2014 and to give a platform to the films lovers and the directors, adding that this is the third time that such a film fest is being organised in the state.
