Yuva morcha says intentionally timed to blanket Modi swearing in
IMPHAL, May 27: The BJP Yuva Morcha has accused the State of having ulterior motive in the May 26 power-cut, which it says was perfectly timed with the swearing in ceremony of Narendra Modi as the 15th Prime Minister of India.
The power cut had resulted in the people of the State missing out from watching the historic moment, the Yuva Morcha said today.
The BJYM, Manipur radish today called a press meet at the office of the BJP.
Addressing the media, president Malesh said yesterday’s event was a historic moment for the country.
But it is really unfortunate and disheartening that the entire State missed out from the ceremony due to power cuts.
The ‘historic ceremony’ was attended by leaders of the SAARC countries and was attended by around 4000 important persons and was broadcasted in 18 different languages, he announced.
He said the power supply resumed just after the ceremony ended after, it was cut off at 6pm Monday.
According to the president, people thought of it to be just normal power-cut which is quite frequent in the State.
“When we inquired with the Electricity Main department, we were told of a problem at Yurembam main station,” he said.
However, the power came just as the swearing in ceremony concluded, he continued.
Suspicious of an ulterior motive behind the power cut, he said the youth brigade will find out whether it was deliberate and intentional.
And if in case it turn out to be intentional, anyone found involved will be punished befittingly.
Malesh said the youth brigade will go to the bottom of it.
General secretary, BJPYM H Rajesh said it was not only during the swearing in ceremony but there was similar power cut when Narendra Modi was delivering a speech during an election campaign at Imphal.
People who were unable to attend the public meeting were unable to listen to the leader speak, even though it was live telecasted on the local cable channel, he said.
He accused the Congress government in the State of being narrow-minded.
