IMPHAL, May 5: In an attempt to provide medical facilities to the far flung areas, the District Mobile Medical Unit camp 2014-14 has been flagged off in Thoubal district by the Chief Medical Officer of the district Dr S Saratkumar Singh at District Health Society, Thoubal Wangma Taba today.
On its first day, the mobile medical unit rendered medical service at Sangaiyumpham part II.
During the flagging off of the program, the CMO Thoubal said that the District Health Society Thoubal has launched the program so as to “reach the unreached” and further added that 100 plus such mobile medical camps were conducted in the previous year while 240 such camps is being targeted this year which necessitated to conduct 20 camps in each month in the district.
The CMO further mentioned that the aim of outreaching medical camp to the unreached is to provide medical facilities to those deserving pregnant woman so as to reduce mother child mortality rate during delivery cases.
Dr Saratkumar also stated that the aim of the program could only be achieved when health facility and related health education are provided to the deserving rural folks.
He also mentioned of the facilities which could be available under the mobile medical camp such as pre and post natal health check up, timely vaccination of the children, family planning program, health care for adolescence, necessary tasting for malaria and HIV/AIDS etc.
For the first time, the mobile medical camp will cover all the Anganwandi Centres of the district, the CMO mentioned and further continued that 755 and 459 Angaanwadi centres are operating in Thoubal and Kanching Block respectively.
The mobile medical will cover free medication including ultra sound, X-ray, laboratory taste, Saratkumar said and he also made a general appeal to all Anganwadi workers and helpers to extend cooperation in the medial outreached venture.
