KNF calls for unity during raising day observation

IMPHAL, May 18: The Kuki National Front has celebrated its 27th Raising Day at Camp Ebenezer, Natheljang.

Home secretary of KNF, Jangboi has extended his gratitude towards the leaders, delegates and the public for their valuable time, said a press release.

Around 3000 people and representatives of Kuki Inpi, Manipur, KSO (general head-quarter), Kuki Human Rights, Kuki Women Union and around 200 village chiefs and including prominent Kuki UG leaders like TS Haokip, defence secretary KNO and delegates of the UPF and KNO attended the celebration, it said.

During the function, Aaron Kipgen, general secretary KNF stated in his condolence meeting that since the beginning of the Kuki Armed Movement in May 18, 1987, many cadres have fallen at the hands of government security forces, and some due to the infamous trend of factionalism in the Kuki society, continued the statement.

He continued, however, they all died defending the cause of the Kuki armed movement, the home secretary.

He further said that they are still remembered with great honour and pride and strengthen the fighting unity of all Kukis, it said.

Further according to the statement rising Kuki artistes like Jenny, Touthang, Lalparzo, Anjali and Gougin Kipgen entertained the people.

Meanwhile, president of the outfit, ST Thangboi in his speech stated that the Kuki society needs unity, to take more political steps, it said.

Without unity, we shall all dwindle and die. But once we are united, we can get to a political solution within few years from now, he said, stated the statement.

The Kuki political movement is at a crossroad, he said calling for unity, according to the statement.
