Speaking to local newsmen this evening at Kangpokpi, KSO Sadar Hills president Thangminlen Kipgen on behalf of the students’ body expressed wholeheartedly his heartfelt gratitude to the state Health minister and his colleagues for paying a visit to CHC Kangpokpi taking into account the condition and needs of the centre as well as the people`s desire.
The growth of population by far under CHC Kangpokpi is beyond the capacity of CHC administration and the medical facilities provided under Community Health Centre could not meet the needs of the people now, said Thangminlen Kipgen and further added that it is therefore significantly needed to upgrade the CHC into District Hospital considering the health related matter of the general public.
He continued that the student body while concerning tremendous hardship faced by the people as well as the CHC have already submitted a memorandum to the Health minister for early upgradation of CHC Kangpokpi into District hospital on his maiden visit to the centre yesterday.
We also demanded for posting adequate doctors to the centre and sanctioned additional CMO for Sadar Hills, added Thangminlen.
Posting of five doctors at T Waichong PHC considering the area coverage and concerning the non-functional of 24×7 services at Saikul and Motbung PHC even after the Government sanctioned five doctors each to the respective PHC are other demands of the students’ body in the memorandum.
In the meantime, the students’ body also appealed the general public as well as the local CSOs to coordinate time to time with the CHC authority for proper and smooth functioning of the CHC in carrying out the public demands satisfactory before the Government initiates suitable measures for the centre considering the demands of the students’ body as well as of the general public.
The student’s body also urged the MO in-charge, doctors, nurses and staff of the CHC to work and render their best effort in delivering the public service accordingly.
