BISHNUPUR, May 13: Four local youth clubs of Phubala today called a press conference against the occupation of Phubala play ground by some unknown parties regarding construction of some structures at Phubala playground.
The local clubs are Gandhi Memorial club, Social Development Organisation, United Clubs Organisation, Young Smart Unity club. The clubs had jointly formed a JAC demanding preservation of the playground.
The press conference was called at the Phubala play ground itself.
Addressing the media, Ch Dinesh secretary of the JAC said construction of the new structures was witnessed some 15 days ago.
He said that the construction started without the knowledge of the locals.
He said people of the locality want clarification at the earliest.
The place covering an area of 2.88 acre under 1402 dag number in the revenue department has been reserved as Phubala playground since 1952, he asserted.
He further appealed to the state Chief Minister, dy Chief Minister and the minister concerned to save the ground which has already produced several successful national players and more than 100 have got jobs in the army because of the talents that was harnessed from the same ground.
