IMPHAL, May 5: The Joint Action Committee Chingoo Sadongba Kanba Lup today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur demanding the release of four individuals who were arrested by the police in connection with the death of Sagolsem Yaima.

The JAC identified the four as Khumukcham Barlin, 17, of Awang Leikinthabi; Takhellembam Chanu Bidota, 17, of Maibakhul Mamang Leikai; Wahengbam Thoinao, 17, of Maibakhul Mamang Leikai and Nilkamal of Yumnam Huidrom, 14.

The four had been arrested earlier by the police in connection with the death of Sagolsem Yaima, who was found dead, on March 18 morning at Maibakhul Maning Leikai playground.

The JAC along with the family members today took out a rally from Malem Society for Yeksallai Culture office Khurai Lamlong Thongkhong.

The rally was stopped by the police at Tilipati.

The police however, allowed three key members of the JAC to submit the memorandum to the Chief Minister.

In the memorandum, the JAC claimed that the arrested individuals were innocent and not involved in the death.

Alleging that they were subjected to torture by the police, the JAC put up a charter of demands in the memorandum.

It demanded the immediate termination of police who were involved in arresting the four individuals and released them arrested unconditionally.

In the event of failure of the Government to fulfil their demands within three day-time, the JAC threatened to launch intense form of agitation.
