IMPHAL, May 18: The elected members of the local bodies of Wabagai area committed to the development of the Regional Buffalo Breeding Farm Wabagai and have taken several resolutions to this effect.
The resolutions were taken during a meeting held today inside the complex of the Buffalo Breeding Farm.
The meeting was initiated by the Project Officer of the Breeding Farm Dr Yengkhom Rejendra Singh and attended by the Zilla Parishad member, Pradhan, Up-Pradhan and Ward members of the Keirak Gram Panchayat.
During the meeting, it was resolved that fishing activities including the use of electronic equipment should not be encouraged in and around the Breeding Farm, to check deforestation including felling of timber for firewood purposes.
During the meeting, the members had also unanimously decided to urge the farmers who have encroached over the farm for fish farming activities to discontinue their acts immediately.
It was also resolved to sow hhigh growth varieties of grass in the areas which are used for illegal fish farming and other areas of the farm by cleaning the herbaceous plants.
Along with the resolutions, it was decided that the necessary tools, equipment and manpower for cleaning purpose will be shared by the Zilla Parishad member of the area M Omila Devi and Pradhan of Wabagai Gram Panchayat Y Tampha Devi and the Pradhan of the Keirak Gram Panchayat Th Sanatomba Singh respectively.
In order to translate the resolution No. 3, it was also resolved that the concern family members of the homesteads will be summoned on May 25 so that a counselling session could be held with them and also further decided to extend all possible help to the Regional Buffalo Breeding Farm for its development.
All the members of the two Gram Panchayats Pradhans and Up-Pradhans also attended the meeting.
