IMPHAL, June 11: Critical Days of Manipur: A Study on Burning Issues and Problems, a book written by Dr Dhanabir Laishram and Uritkhinbam Nobokishore was released today at the Manipur Press Club.
During the function, professor Ksh Bimola Devi, former dean of Social Science, Manipur University attended as chief guest, Reverend Dr Tamthing Ruivanao, chairman, United NGOs Mission, Manipur as function president, Wahengbam Tikendra Singh, editors of The People’s Chronicle as guest of honour and Dr Chinglen Maisnam, assistant professor department of economics, Manipur University made a critical assessment of the book.
Speaking at the function, Dr Tamthing Ruivanao said that bringing the concept of political ideas in a book is very encouraging and it is not an easy job. He further said that a writer should have wide knowledge and a clear concept of the topic. He further said that this kind of book will make the readers analyse and response to the situation and issues and also added that one should not necessarily confine his/her thought only in Manipur.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Dr Ksh Bimola Devi stated that the both the authors of the book are truly social activist because the title itself indicates that both of them had involved in many issues, problem of Manipur, the reality and significance of the present day society. She also expressed the book would be helpful for the people of Manipur especially for political science students and policy makers.
Dr Dhanabir Laishram said that a writer should have the qualities of intellectual, theoretical knowledge of the subject matter, interpretation, observation and recommendation.
