Also a rare opportunity for the children born and brought up here in Europe, teaching as well as reminding them of their rich traditional and cultural roots.
The main highlights of the event were the first ever introduction of ‘EMA Cup’ football match organised between members residing in London versus ‘Rest of Europe’. The team comprising of ‘Rest of Europe’ won and lifted the cup .Man of the match was awarded to Franco Mayanglambam. Apart from fun and cultural activities, an annual convention comprising of discussions on different topics related to socio-economic development of Manipur, promotion of Manipuri culture in Europe ,to promote EMA through more mini gatherings and networking creating more awareness than before about its existence in Europe in general and London in particular are some to mention.
The Convention has resolved to organise EMA Football Cup as an annual event from this year onward to promote sports and unity among the Diasporas living in Europe. Furthermore, there was a brainstorming session on how to showcase the cultural heritage and artifacts of Manipur in particular and North East India in general at the international level whilst utilising the limited resources available.
The Executive Committee of EMA would like to thank its members specially those who had travelled far from different parts of Europe to attend the gathering. The moral and financial support provided by those members who couldn’t make themselves to the event is well appreciated. Special thanks to those who offered extra help to the executive committee in organising the event which has always been the reason for a successful EMA gathering.
