IMPHAL, June 12: Md Tajkhan, 23, son of Md Jahuruddin of Changamdabi Mathak Leikai under Yairipok Police station who has been charged of raping a 17 year old girl last year was arrested yesterday night around 10.
He was produced before the CJM Thoubal at 2:30 pm today and has been remanded to police custody till June 19, 2014.
In this matter, assistant public prosecuter, S Maipak Singh briefed the media inside the court complex.
He said Tejkhan was arrested in connection with the rape case of a 17-year old college going girl.
He said the girl was kidnapped by three-four persons from her college on June 19 last year around noon time and the girl was later abandoned in front of her house after allegedly raping her.
The APP further expressed that police have requested the court to remand the accused person Tejkhan for 10 days, however the court has permitted to remand him for eight days police custody.
