IMPHAL, June 9: The United Kuki Liberation Front, UKLF has today clarified that it has nothing to do with the shooting of Chungjalen Haokip near his home at Tuibong, two days back.
A press release of the outfit has said, “Chungjalen Haokip is the elder brother of Tonglenlal alias Lalmoi, gen. secy., KNLF, and indeed the UKLF and KNLF had problems but that is not a valid reason to target a victim who is a civilian.”
“UKLF knew this part very much. Thus, the false and random allegation of KNLF upon UKLF is very unfortunate.”
UKLF, being a SoO signatory, never indulge in anything which is against the SoO ground rules, it said while clarifying, “We are strictly following the set rules and none of our cadres is out there to carry out action on Chungjalen Haokip who is in Churanchanpur.”
The UKLF does not believe in internecine bloodshed but believe in peace and social harmony and had even raise this particular point many times at different levels of meeting between the UPF and KNO, it said.
“UKLF have no personal vendetta with anybody or group. KNLF is like a new born baby (ngarang gi nga kha) for the UKLF and have nothing equal with us.”
It has also continued that instead of trying to tarnish the good image of UKLF, the KNLF should mend its ways and stop indulging in extortion, threatening and warning public leaders.
“Govt must be careful while dealing between the SoO groups and surrenderee group like KNLF. Surrenderee groups be send home with appropriate rehabilitation packages and not be treated at par with the SoO groups. This kind of action of the govt left hazy picture and will create more problems.”
Instead of simply accusing and blaming the UKLF directly, the KNLF should investigate and find out by themselves who is /are the persons/group behind the incident, it said while adding in fact the UKLF condemn the shooting of Chungjalen Haokip and demanded the perpetrators to come out in public and clarify their action immediately.
