KANGPOKPI, June 8: For the first time in the history of the United Sapormeina Village, successful candidates of Class X and XII were felicitated today at the CC Hall, Gamnom Sapormeina in the presence of IFCD, Printing & Stationery, minister Ngamthang Haokip, and executive member Vety.& Medical, ADC Sadar Hills Lunthang Haokip as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
The felicitation cum career counselling function was organised by the United Sapormeina Youth Club.
Altogether 51 successful students from Sapormeina village including 22 first divisioners and 10 second divisioners of HSLC as well as 16 first divisioners and 2 second divisioners of Class XII, 2014 were felicitated.
The students were also imparted career counselling by James Doujapao Haokip, MPS in the first session of the day.
It may be mentioned that Obed Letlensang Haokip son of Onthang Haokip of Sapormeina village secured the 12th rank in the recently declared HSLC Examination 2014 in all Manipur with 91.4% including letter mark in all the subjects.
He cleared the examination from St. Mary School, Churachandpur.
Addressing the first session, James Doujapao Haokip said to appear any civil services exam, one needs degree, but to be successful in such exams it is not the degree but the knowledge one gains through perseverance, determination and hard-work that one needs.
Any student who passes the class X and XII exams by use of unfair means with high percentage always face problems later in their career which accounts for their failure to succeed in life, he continued elaborating on the need to clear exams in a fair manner.
The young students and their parents should totally remove the ‘It is worthless studying hard while not having enough money to buy a job’ attitude because it is rather worthless, cautioned James Doujapao Haokip.
In the second session, IFC minister Ngamthang Haokip gave away citations to the successful candidates of Class X while, Lunthang Haokip handed over citations to Class XII successful candidates.
Reading book and studying book has different meaning and objective asserted IFC minister.
The minister also donated cash to the organising committee.
Lunthang Haokip said that quality education standard in Sadar Hills is still at the bottom level which is the sole reason for the unsatisfactory results in any academic and competitive examinations.
President United Sapormeina Youth Club Th. Helen Kipgen in his presidential speech pointed out that student needs encouragement as well as felicitations and acknowledgements in their success which in turn will give them confidence in their future endeavour.
A part from successful student and their parents, church leaders and others leaders also attended the function.
